GRISSOM WRESTLING

Head Coach Joe Dasaro is a Grissom High School Alumni. Coach Dasaro has been the wrestling coach at Grissom for 29 years. Coach Dasaro pursued his Bachelors degree at Auburn University. Coach Dasaro has been named City Coach of the Year 17 years and State Coach of the Year 7 years since 1984. Other awards include: 1997 State Man of the Year, NFHS Southern Coach of the Year (1998, 2000), 6A State Championship teams (1989, 1990, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2002 and 2004). Coach Dasaro was also inducted into the Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. Coach Dasaro feels that making individuals into a team is one of the most exciting things about being involved in coaching wrestling, “I love watching as each wrestler finds their true strengths - on the mat and off.” Coach Dasaro says that the biggest reward for dedicating his life to this sport is, “...the wrestlers that come back year after year, the cards from the ones that can’t and all the help from those established in our community.” Most precious to Coach’s life are his three children, Katie, Stephen and Maddie.

Keith Henderson has been coaching wrestling for 14 years. Coach Henderson has also been involved in coaching football for 19 years. Coach Henderson is a 1985 graduate of Butler High School where he participated in both football and wrestling and a 1992 graduate of Jacksonville State University where he also played football. Coach Henderson was also inducted into the Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. Coach Henderson’s favorite part of coaching is being able to work with young people. Coach Henderson and his wife Cari have five children: Emily, Hayden, John-David, Hillary and Harper.
